About First Light Therapeutic Art + Wellness

therapeutic art, wellness, holistic health, and the ocean.

First Light Therapeutic Art + Wellness was born from an idea that from the first light at dawn every morning, we begin anew.

We all have the capability to start fresh and build our lives in alignment with our highest potential and grandest dreams. Through tapping into your creativity, the rhythms of your body, mind, and spirit, and nature, your possibilities are infinite.

Courtney Boyes (Mattes), MA, ATR, INHC, OHT

Courtney is an art therapist, holistic health coach, surfer, and ocean healing therapist who specializes in supporting women through life’s transitions, including postpartum healing, motherhood, and rediscovering themselves after seasons of change. She believes every person deserves a healing journey as unique as their own waves, bringing realness, humor, depth, and compassion into every session.

Courtney believes we are all water: connected, ever-changing, and capable of renewal. Through storytelling, movement, creative expression, and time in nature, she helps women reconnect with the parts of themselves that may have been lost beneath caregiving, trauma, grief, anxiety, or the demands of everyday life. Surfing, art, breath, and saltwater become pathways for releasing what no longer serves them and creating space for healing, resilience, and joy.

Her approach is intentionally unconventional. Whether supporting a new mother finding herself again, a woman navigating a major life transition, or someone seeking deeper connection to their body and spirit, Courtney believes healing is most powerful when it’s personal, expressive, and experienced in community. Through art, movement, surf, and shared stories, she creates spaces where women feel seen, supported, and reminded that they don’t have to navigate life’s tides alone.
